AP is reporting Hillary Clinton has narrowly won the Democratic caucuses in Iowa, beating back a strong challenge from Bernie Sanders to claim the first victory in the 2016 race for president. She is awarded 2 more delegates than Sanders.
The Iowa Democratic Party called last night’s contest the closest in its caucus history. It also says it won’t do a recount, and the Sanders campaign says it won’t challenge the results.
Support: 49.8% Clinton and 49.6% Sanders.
Delegates: 699.57 Clinton and 697.77 Sanders.
