The rich continue to get richer while the poor get poorer and the middle class disappears.
Global inequality has continued to rise in 2015, according to the annual Credit Suisse Global Wealth Report. The top 1% now own half of the world’s wealth.
The numbers are reversed for those on the other end of the wealth spectrum. The poorest half of the world’s population owns just 1% of its assets.
A society cannot survive with this much imbalance.
Anyone who has studied history knows a growing chasm between the rich and poor is one of the prime ingredients of violent revolution. While some are so oppressed they may like the idea of a violent revolution, the problem is the end result of a revolution isn’t always better than what came before.
