Man in critical condition after being shot by LAPD officer was unarmed

A man with his arm wrapped in a towel called for help in the Los Feliz area of Los Angeles. Officers arrived, and cops just assumed the guy had a gun inside the towel. One officer ordered the man to drop “the gun,” and of course the man couldn’t because the towel was wrapped around his arm.

So the cop fired, critically wounding the man who had called for help. The victim can be seen in video with a gruesome head wound.

The towel did not have a gun in it, so man could not obey the order to drop a gun he did not have, and as the Los Angeles Times reports, no gun was found at the scene.

Police officials say at least one officer opened fire on the man, wounding him, with a authorities rushing him afterwards to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

Police say no weapon was found near the man.

A bystander captured video of the two officers rolling the critically wounded man over on to his stomach so that they can handcuff him, exposing the head wound to the video device.
