Jesus commanded his followers to be socialists

If America really were a “Christian” nation, then we would follow the commandments of Christ in our law. And like it or not, Jesus commanded socialism: “Anyone who has two shirts should share with the one who has none, and anyone who has food should do the same.” Luke 3:11

But today, many modern American Christians would call this coddling the poor, and they oppose giving them “handouts” because it only “makes them lazy and dependent.” Not only do they oppose practicing Jesus’ socialism in society, most Christians don’t even practice it in their churches.

But evangelicals ignoring inconvenient Bible version in favor of their own prejudice is nothing new. They love to condemn gay people and claim biblical morality as the reason they oppose gay marriage — even though the Bible clearly forbids remarriage after divorce and marriage between Christians and non-Christians, yet you’ll never see evangelicals fight to make remarriage after divorce or inter-religious marriage illegal.
